Jim Benedict

I have been building airplanes since I was just a kid.  I started with rubber-band kits, static models and then moved to u-control.  Dropped out of the hobby for about 20 years and then became interested in radio-controlled planes.  I have been building and flying RC planes for the last 25 years.  With the improvement of batteries, I have become interested in electric planes more recently, but still love the smell of nitro and the deep sound of the four-stroke engine.  When I am not building or flying planes, I play with my Cavaliers, Wrigley and Bentley.  I have been a member of the Saints for about 4 years.

Scratch-build Japanese Zero.  The bomb actually drops. It was later shot down by a F4-U Corsair over a flying field in western Kentucky.

Scratch-built Extra 3.25 that flies beautifully!

Douglas A-4 Skyhawk with OS 91nitro engine, tuned pipe, air retracts, and 12-blade ducted fan  -- way too fast for me to fly anymore.

Sratch-built Douglas C-47 with WW II invasion stripes. It has twin OS 15 nitro engines...flies great, but wing-tip stalls easily!

Wrigley and  Bentley

Here is one of the models I built this winter.  I am looking forward to flying it this spring.
